IELTS Listening Practice Essentials

Dear Students, Certain tips to maximize your learning experience in listening test practice/ IELTS Practice

1. Keep away other papers and work only on the paper given by the teacher. In the listening test practice, there will be intervals when the audio is not being played, at that time quietly read the questions for the following audio.

2. Once you start answering the listening questions, you may miss some parts of the audio needed to fill in the gaps in the questions, don’t worry, you have to continue with the immediate next portion of the audio and its related answers in the question sheet.

3. When you miss your listening answers do not look on the person’s paper sitting near you, remember the key to all your questions is in the audio and in the frame work of questions on the question paper; and not in your friend’s paper.

4. If the person sitting near you is racing( it may be an anxiety response) with the questions don’t get worried about your own performance, remember the point is not getting it first but focus should be on getting it correctly; which you can acquire only through more practice. Correct answers mean your answers should have the correct spelling, and match the number of words and the number specified in the instructions.

For example:

5. Please do not feel discouraged if you are not able to answer all questions, move on with the audio, and you will be happier at a later stage. Be optimistic and keep on working.

6. Please do not shout or ask questions to the person sitting nearby, that way you make him lose his learning time as well as yours. Raise your hand quietly and your teacher will hear you.

7. Put away your mobile phones while in class.

Happy learning to all!
